Woolworths Ranked Most Trustworthy Company in South Africa for Fourth Consecutive Year

Woolworths proudly celebrates being named among the World’s Most Trustworthy Companies for a fourth year in a row, ranking as the 15th most trustworthy retailer in the world, and topping the chart for South African companies on the list.

The ranking by Newsweek and Statista is built on extensive independent surveys and sentiment analysis. Over 500 000 data points are considered in the ranking, and quantify results based on three dimensions of trust: customer perception, investor confidence, and employee engagement. The surveys conducted account for 80% of the weighting, and social analysis accounts for the remaining 20%. Scores that were earned in previous years count too, given the understanding that trust builds over time.

“Trust can be one of the most valuable things a company earns,” said Newsweek when publishing the 2026 rankings. “For consumers, it can influence where to spend money and which brands to invite into their lives.”

“Ranking among the world’s most trustworthy companies is proof of our values in action,” said Woolworths Group CEO, Sam Ngumeni. “I’m proud of our business for achieving this recognition, and we’ll continue to work hard to earn that trust every single day.”

This ranking reflects the exceptional standards upheld across the Woolworths group and is a continuation of the business’s commitment to sustainability, transparency and quality.
