New Lotus River Shoprite with Halaal-certified Fresh departments employs 85 from local community
Shoprite marked the opening of its 100th store in the Western Cape with a new supermarket on 5th Avenue in Lotus River, Cape Town.
Working closely with the Muslim Judicial Council of South Africa (MJC), all Fresh departments in Shoprite Lotus River, including the butchery, are fully Halaal-certified, offering customers affordable groceries and fresh food, with a range of products suited to the needs of the local community.
The 1 667m² store employs 85 people within the local community, including 35 new positions.
The store features a Meat Market, Deli, Bakery and Fresh Fruit & Vegetables department, alongside a Money Market counter where customers can buy prepaid electricity, airtime, data, lottery and bus tickets, and pay municipal bills.
Shoprite now has a total of 714 stores across South Africa, following the opening of 32 new supermarkets during the last financial year.
Shoprite Lotus River operates from 08:00 – 20:00, Monday to Sunday; and is managed by Shaheema Williams who has been with the retailer for 25 years and transferred from Shoprite Elsies River.
