Touchsides Rebranded as Kazang Insights Following Lesaka Acquisition

Leading data analytics, insights and merchant services company, Touchsides, is rebranding as Kazang Insights and integrating into Kazang—the prepaid value-added services (VAS) and card acquiring business within JSE-listed fintech Lesaka Technologies. Integration of the two businesses will enable Kazang to unlock compelling new data monetisation opportunities and market innovation.

The newly rebranded Kazang Insights transforms raw data into actionable insights that empower businesses to thrive in South Africa’s informal market. Data gathered from ePOS terminals is monetised through relationships with clients such as fast-moving consumer goods companies, retailers, wholesalers, route-to-market suppliers, and financiers.

The rebrand follows Lesaka’s acquisition of Touchsides from Heineken International in 2024 and positions the Touchsides business as an integrated part of the Kazang offering. The move unlocks exciting opportunities for data-driven growth and innovation across the entire informal market, combining Touchsides’ advanced data capabilities with Kazang’s extensive market reach.

Touchsides operates over 10,000 ePOS terminals across South Africa’s informal licensed taverns, and processes more than 1.5 million transactions per day. By leveraging ePOS devices, the business provides real-time, unparalleled visibility into sell-out data, enabling smarter decision-making, tailored promotions, and strategicgrowth for Kazang Insight’s clients.

Touchsides’s evolution s within Kazang allows for a more robust data monetisation strategy that incorporates valuable insights from not only taverns but also spazas and other small traders. It also broadens Kazang’s footprint in the informal tavern sector, a major vertical consisting of around 45,000 establishments.
