SPAR Zimbabwe has opened a new supermarket in the agricultural hub of Mazowe, located approximately 40km from the capital city of Harare.
The SPAR Mazowe supermarket is situated along the main highway connecting Harare to the northern regions and the Zambian border, making it a high-traffic transit zone for commuters, haulage trucks, and travellers. The region is symbolic for the lush valley surrounded by the Mazowe Hills, as well as the Mazowe Dam and its rich, red volcanic soils.
It is the first supermarket in the area and sets a benchmark in retailing for the district. This SPAR supermarket incorporates the new flagship store branding, developed in collaboration with SPAR International for the recently opened SPAR Cardinals supermarket, as well as operating on brand pillars of fresh, local, and quality.
This newly opened supermarket has a retail sales area of 970m2 as well as 130m2 of retail space in the adjacent Tops liquor store. The supermarket caters to a wide catchment area, including consumers looking for a modern shopping experience as well as a large agricultural and mining labour force that requires reliable access to quality groceries.
With 4,360 products on offer, including nearly 600 SPAR Own Brand items, the SPAR Mazowe supermarket provides a comprehensive assortment. Instore departments include fruit & vegetables, a delicatessen serving hot and cold meals, butchery, bakery, and an instore quick service offering, “Fire & Grill”.
The supermarket underwent a soft launch on Tuesday, February 24th, followed by the official opening ceremony on Friday March 6th.
