First new-look Checkers Opens in Mpumalanga at White River Crossing

Checkers opened the doors to its first new-look store in Mpumalanga at the White River Crossing lifestyle shopping centre on Thursday, 22 August 2019.

Almost 100 new jobs were created, bringing the store’s full staff complement to 159, of which 107 are women and 120 are youth (between the ages of 18 and 35).

The new state-of-the-art store promises a clutter-free experience, wider aisles and shelves designed with the shopper in mind whilst the seamless floors mean trolleys make less noise when pushed through the store.

The in-store service departments are designed to look and feel like a store within a store and include an impressive Cheese Deli, Hot & Cold Foods Deli, Bakery, Fresh Fruit & Vegetables, Butchery, Coffee Bar, Sushi Bar and a Wine Shop, which is designed to look like a wine cellar.

Customers can also save time by making use of the range of extensive services available at the Money Market counter.

The store will be managed by experienced Branch Manager, Willie Engelbrecht, who joined the Shoprite Group in 2007.

A MediRite pharmacy and LiquorShop will follow soon, with Medirite offering free health screenings to senior citizens aged 60 and older once a month. The check-ups include blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure and body mass index (BMI) tests.

The store’s trading hours are 08:00 – 20:00 from Mondays to Fridays, 08:00 – 19:00 on Saturdays, and 08:00 – 18:00 on Sundays.
